My Little Comfy Chair

Oh how Charlotte was frustrated when her every attempt to sit in this barbie chair failed.  What the heck?

A Sunday

Just some random pics again . . . this is typical, Addy working hard at something and Charlotte running around trying to figure out her next plan of attack.

She loves to be silly.

Trying to get a picture of her fly away hair.  Now the front is starting to grow in - chunks at a time.  It makes for some funny hair days.  But I love each and every one of them.

Ahhhh.  This is a face we see quite often.  A LOT.  Its her "I am not getting exactly what I want, exactly when I want it" face.  Or maybe her "I don't know what I want but you are making me angry anyway."  Love her.

Trying to get her interested in coloring.

I think, hey if sister comes and colors too, then for sure Charlotte will want to color too.  Nope, just eat the crayon.

Sweet Addy, she's growing out her hair and its getting so much longer.  Sometimes I still get surprised that she doesn't have her short cut any more.

Just being silly.  This isn't hard for us and seems to be a common theme.

Memories brought to you by crayola.  Who knew they were as good to eat as color with!

Memories

So I was trying to capture a picture of Charlotte in one of my favorite outfits - it was Addy's way back when.  I didn't have a ton of luck, she was being all crazy.  But at least I got it and it makes me smile.

I have no idea what she was all about, other then foiling my picture attempts.

Kid Fun

As you are aware Addy is a reader.  She has powered through a number of chapter book series over the last year.  My Mom found a new series that she is really enjoying:

Addy is also reading the original Nancy Drew series, but that is a little more in depth and this is a nice bridge into that series.

The Elves brought Addy a great game during Christmas that all of us enjoy playing.  It was created by a 6 year old and it is great fun.

Its a card game so easy to travel with - we took it to Hawaii with us and played it a lot once Charlotte went to bed.

Last weekend we hit Seattle and Scott picked up a new game at a fun game store.  This game is super simple, but creates a fast pace and ramps up the competition.

We are working on holding one another (Addy) to being a good sport and learning that friendly competetion is good!  Its fun to build them games into our family time.

Leave a Toy

Just some random things to share . . .

Game night.  Charlotte lasted like this for about 5 minutes and then was off tearing up the room.

This is Charlotte's "look at me aren't I funny face".

Attempting pigtails.

Twinsies - both in pigtails.  Charlotte is more interested in pulling her sister's pants down.

This is what Charlotte's hair is looking like without any help - what the heck?

One little pony on top!

Yum!

I love this!  Addy swallowed her tooth that fell out and she was super worried about the toothfairy - so she wrote a letter.  And included a picture.  Love the directness - lost my tooth so please replace it with a toy.  Simple and clear - this is what the Governor's Office teaches us about "plain talk".  And jsut to hit the point home she drew out the spot to leave the toy since there wasn't actually a tooth to exchange.

May the Force Be with You

This was a big night at our house a couple of weeks ago.  For me.  Scott played along because he is nice.

Addy got to watch one of my all time favorite movies with us.

Can you guess which movie?

Yup, I am the dork that took a picture while we were watching it to memorialize the occasion.  And of course Addy loved it and had to dress up like her new favorite lady - the feisty princess.  What is funny is that out of all the characters Addy has loved and pretended to be - Princess Leia fits her personality the best.  We both laughed about it.

And now Addy walks around using her Jedi mind tricks on everyone.  She is convinced she can make Charlotte do things.  So funny!

Addy has decided she is going to be Pricness Leia for halloween next year and so of course poor Charlotte will be stuck with Yoda. Ha!

V Day Performance

So excited that my Dad got this video!  On Valentine's Day Addy's class hosted a Grandparents Party.  They prepared a couple of cute songs to share and my Dad got a video.

You can see Addy and her friends performing here!

Reading and Writing

Just thought I would share some random Addy stuff tonight.  Addy's school work is going so well.  Her report card was excellent!  Her handwriting is improving so much:

Addy continues to do great work at school and brings her quest for knowledge home most nights.  Tonight we worked on telling time.  Its so fun to watch her process things and work them through her mind.  I enjoy it tremedously.  Nevermind I forgot to feed the poor girl dinner - oops!

Have I mentioned she loves to read?  It brings my heart so much joy as a reader myself.  As I think about the joy reading will bring her throughout life, its awesome.  I don't mind the piles and piles and piles of books we end up with, before moving to the kindle I had piles of my own that looked really similar.  In her room every available surface is covered with books.  The fall behind her bed and down on the floor and flow under her dresser.  The down side is poor Charlotte sometimes slips and falls on them.  And they aren't contained to her room.

On any given night you will find piles in the car, in the playroom, on the couch and in the car.  Last night I found a pile of books in my closet.  She will reread ones she's read.  Now we are working on comprehension and looking for more challenging books to expand her vocabulary.

Grandpa's got some flashcards for Addy next time she's over . . . we aim to water that thirst for knowledge!

Father Daughter Dance

Even though I don't get to go, this is one of my favorite events of the year.  They had an amazing time dancing, playing and spending time with friends.

Family Sea

Addy's first major project was a family tree project.  Addy got creative and decided to do a family sea instead of a family tree.

The best part was she did an interview with Grandpa.  I took notes and typed her interview, but she came up with all the questions and conducted the interview.

Then she took parts of the interview and made illustrations.

It was really fun to work with Addy on this very special project.

Crazy funny girl

Our little Charlie Brown . . .

She is amazing - she drives me crazy, makes me laugh, makes my heart sing, makes me cy - all in the space of an hour.  Charlotte plays hard and is very physical.  She loves to laugh (fortunately for us) and to hit (unfortunately for us).

She always wants Addy's backpack, so now she has her own.

And it is time to go . . . she is really getting into going bye-bye.

This is a familiar face . . . its her I am getting mad because things are going exactly the way I want.  We see it about a million times a day!!  She is impatient and quick to temper.  But I love it!

She is so silly and her laugh is simply amazing!

Charlotte and Biscuit are really good friends.

Kiss Me

I have been trying so hard to capture Charlotte's kiss face, and it isn't easy.  I don't have my camera at the right time and always have it at the wrong moment.  So, I grabbed this one with my cell phone and its not great (all blurry) but at least I now have a picture of my absolute favorite thing right now!!

She is so cute eating her snack before bed:

Then I ask her to give me a kiss:

Love it!!
