Hawaii Pics

There was some question as to how this trip was gonna happen.  We were scheduled to leave on Friday.  On Wednesday night both Addy and Scott has fevers and were feeling terrible.  Both stayed home to rest on Thursday.  Charlotte awoke Friday with a fever and cough.  Addy was a bit better, and Scott was way worse.  My parents, coming with us on the trip were both sick and still recovering as they arrived in HI.  Our travel day was long and tough.

We arrived in HI, Scott having a 103 degree tempature and Charlotte getting more and more stuffy.  Our first day in HI we spend the morning at urgent care - Scott has strep throat.  Charlotte is okay - just a cold.

Sunday morning - Charlotte is way worse.  Scott actually feeling better - but this is during the Seahawks game - bummer!  After the game Charlotte appears to be getting worse and having trouble breathing.

Off to the emergency room 30 minutes away. They were super responsive, rushed us into a room and got started on treatment immediately.  Contrary to the urgent care from the day before it turns out Charlotte also has strep throat, bronchitis and ear infection.  She did some breathing treatments, got all her meds and was starting to feel a lot better by the time we were headed down the mountain - wow, this was day two people!

Now life wasn't all bad, check this out.

And finally everyone is getting better!  Thankfully we had 10 days in HI and so we still had plenty of time to enjoy paradise.

Finally, Addy and  I got to hit the pool.

Charlotte loved to snuggle and play on Addy's bed.

Family time.  The sad part was as soon as everyone got better Scott had to go to work.

Trekking upstairs from the car with sleepy girl.

Lunch on the beach at Humpy's.

My parents and I had it rough.  Stroll down to Starbucks each morning and have coffee while the girls played around.

Checking out the fish pond.  And yes, thanks to my mom, the girls were in matching dresses each day - adorable!

Checking out the lava beds.

Shopping with Grandpa.

Charlotte loved running in and out from the balcony.

Swim time!

Loving the view!

Fun in the sun on the beach.

Charlotte's new friend Moses.

Lei making class for Addy.

Addy and her friend Stella!

Hula class number 1.

Hula class number 2.

Addy's hula instructor - she was awesome!

The last night of the conference they have a big luau and Addy was so excited to go.  She learned a hula during the day and then got to perform in that night on stage.  Her friend Stella and Addy were the only two kids that were in the group and they did awesome!

Addy was a big hit with the crowd being so much younger then everyone else up there and all dressed up too!

Grandpa and his Akiko!

My parents ventured out to the volcano and got some great shots.

Making wishes in the fountain.

Lava tube.

Addy and Charlotte crashed with my parents when we had business dinners.  This night Addy was out with us and Charlotte got to go to sleep in her bed.

This was our morning stop each day!  It was a tough go.

Doing a little shopping.

Making some new friends one morning.

Every morning Charlotte would get her water and then proceed to pull, tug, bite and toss the straw around.  It never ended well when the straw finally ended up on the floor and had to get thrown out.

Charlotte loved the fountains and fish ponds around the area we stayed.

I love this shot!

It was great to spend time with my parents each day!  In lovely 80 degree sunshine!

The big island was so interesting in its volcanic landscape - I really enjoyed exploring it.

We had a great trip!  But could do without strep next time for sure.  We are thankful for all the time we've got to spend as a family and with family the last couple of months!!
