Mess

Scott had gallbladder surgery last week.  It went well and he is recovering.  But in the midst of managing the house with the patient I may have taken my eyes off the terror princess for a minute or five.  It only takes moments . . .

I don't stand a chance, can you see that gleam in her eye?

Time for a bath . . .

There she goes, running to the tub like she runs everywhere.  As soon as she got out she ran right out to the kitchen and peed on the floor before I got a diaper on her.  Oh yeah!  I got this covered!

Picture of the Day

Addy has this game/craft she does - the picture of the day.  She asks all of us (whoever is around) for one random thing and then works it into a picture.  This one cracked me up.

Scott's Dad came up for 4 days to help us out while Scott was down with surgery.  (Sidenote: how awesome his he?  Between my parents helping with the girls and Frank helping with Scott we got it covered.  Such a blessing to have family that supports us and helps us out.  Thank you Mom, Dad, and Frank.  And of course Ashlie for being there to ensure we don't lose Char in the craziness - thank you!)

Frank said: Toasted marshmallows

There is the campfire and the toasting marshmallow.  Also note the glasses which she remembered can be used to make fire.

I said:  Whale eating watermelon (don't ask why) - and that is exactly what I got!  She added the glasses and bib to the whale for some flare.

Scott said:  Seahawks (a little unoriginal, but awesome nonetheless) - she got on google and looked up the Seahawks Mascot and copied it onto the top right.

Then to add a little extra she wrote in - Announcer: And Russel Wilson runs 5 touchdowns in a row!

And finally Charlotte - she said "I awwwww".  So that is the green ring on the bottom right.

What a fun surprise to see when it is all done!

Totally 80's

Addy's decade day was a big hit.  I guess it is sad commentary when I forget to get her a costume and the night before we can pull this off.  And most of it was stuff I had that ended up in her dress up box.

Scott and I taught her some awesome 80's slang to go along with her neon, fingerless gloves, jelly bracelets and leg warmers.  She was pretty impressed when I goggled Madonna and she had on the gloves and bracelets.  Addy doesn't have to go to early care often and that day she had to go for about 10 minutes before school started.  She was nervous about being in a costumer and took off the gloves and bracelets.  I didn't have the heart to point out the neon orange leg warmers were going to give it away.  She got there and quickly threw everything back on because everyone was decked out!

Secret I-Pad Moments at Casa Daukas

Addy loves to play with the  I-Pad.  Quite often Charlotte gets interested and will watch over her shoulder or start grabbing it from her.  Its a source of joy and pain around our house on some days.

The other morning Addy and I couldn't find Charlotte and we walked into Addy's room and found this:

Gotta love the knee prop.  She was totally into whatever it was she was doing.  And she was not interested in sharing with us.

Its all fun and games . . .

Scott's getting the girls ready for some Olympic fun this winter with bobsled training!

I had to capture a wake up moment with Charlotte.  She was not amused at all.  The first peek at wake up time.

What are you waiting for - pick me up!

Seriously, how long is this going to take?

I give up, just take a picture and move on already.

Now its on, I am going to give you "the glare".

Blue

Now that Addy's room is almost done its time to tackle some more updates.  I can't tell you how much I love our open floor plan. Its great with kids and company.  But when it comes to a few updates it turns into a huge process.  If I tweak one thing another is impacted.  Well I jumped in this last weekend.  New kitchen paint.

Good-bye burnt orange and roosters.  (Yeah, I know its been a long time coming.)

And so it begins . . .

This is Halloween!

Charlotte got her first taste of trick o' treating - and loved it.  The girls had a great time - Ariel and Minnie Mouse scored big.

We had cute ears for Minnie - but she decided not to wear them.  Or let us get pictures of her.  Oh well.  We had fun and that is what counts!

At the last minute we were able to tag along with our friends and Addy got to hang with the big kids.

We always have fun watching the kids run and enjoy our time together.

At the end of the night we let the older kids do one last street and we chilled on the curb.

Couldn't have asked for better weather or better friends to let us tag along with them!
