Fishin'

On Friday Addy had a date with the Pelton's. They went fishing and Little caught two fish!

On Saturday night while I was putting Addy to bed, she asked me if she could go fishing in the bathtub after her bath - she wants to catch three fish!

Somehow I got a little behind, must have been the crazy week we had. Anyway, here a quick recap of last week.

Had a great time hanging out with the Patterson's last weekend:

Isn't she a doll?

Addy and Logan had a great time:

Got to go to Sand in the City with Wyatt.

Making camels and walking them.

Playing in the giant sandbox:

And for the art of the week, I call it Dog Days. (Its Biscuit and Cinnamon!)

Fantasy Land

Oh, its that time of year. I just spent two hours drafting a kiss a** line up!! I can't wait. (Did I really just say that about football season?!) Playing fantasy football has certainly allowed me to enjoy the season a bit more. Lets face it I am just competitive, and I like beating (or trying to beat) anyone at any thing!

Go O-Town Heros!

P.S. I also managed to not draft any Cowboys (boo to Dallas) and no Eagles (Vick sucks!). I did get one Bear - but I'll live. He is a pretty good one!

Pet Parade

One of my very favorite childhood memories is of my Mom taking me to the Pet Parade. Many years my best friends Marta and Britta joined us. Sometimes it was really cold and sometimes rainy. It was always fun! We took Addy this year to the 80th Annual Pet Parade. We had lots of fun checking out the pets and people.

Addy awaiting the parade coming around the corner:

Had to give a shout out to the Star Wars family (since I am a Star Wars geek myself):

Check out the doxies, they are clydesdales pulling a Budweiser cart. Too cute.

For traditions sake we had to get some hot chocolate to keep warm.

Ponies too!

And just in case you ever doubted she's my girl, here is little bear - with her blistex!

Addy thought that the animals were okay. But what was really great was the candy people tossed out. Addy was definitely sure that was the best part of the event.

A new camera some day?

My Dad let me barrow his very nice camera to get a sense of how hard it is to learn and if I can actually take any good pictures. I am still learning each time I pick it up. Love the pictures, don't love the size and weight of it. Here are some of my hundreds of practice shots. I think I need a photography class. :)

YOTG #4

So, already I am reflecting on things I will do differently in the future.

1. No more Gerber daisies (or at least not in pots in the hottest sun). The basics look good and last.

2. Herbs need additional water and attention beyond the rest of the plants. Except chives. I have a lot. A. LOT. Everything else died even before the really hot week hit. Move the herbs to a cooler place and baby them.

3. Even my never fail petunia's have a limit - and 106 degrees is it. Even with two waterings a day that week, they are still looking sad. Move things out of the sun if it going to be that hot.

I have a couple of big projects left for the remainder of the summer, before phase two hits. (Phase two is don't assume your yard magically disappears just before September hits. Actually revitalize it for fall and enjoy it.)

1. Clean up the rock garden.
2. Pull out the dead shrubs. (I am scared of this, it sounds hard.)

Finally, I was wondering why even though I am working more in the yard it doesn't look close to amazing. One reason is because I am not watering the grass enough to be amazing this year. (Is the money worth it?) And two, Biscuit destruction reigns supreme. Check out what our door step looks like all the time. Leaves, rocks, sticks, bugs, animal guts (when we are very unlucky).

But, on a very positive note, I was very scared to plant a ton of bulbs and have them do nothing. They worked . .. all over the yard we have these lovelies to gaze at!!

Jumpin Jellybean

Addy loves to jump on Daddy!

And even though he claims it hurts so bad, I think Daddy loves it too!

Cooler and Shorter!

This week was a blur of miserably hot weather. Never have I felt so convicted that I live in the right place for me. The fact that this 106 degree day was a wild anomaly makes me so happy. I thought I might cry that day when the fire alarm at work went off during the lunch hour. I was forced to go stand in the parking lot (outside) while they checked out the building. (I should have stayed inside - even if there was afire, the heat wouldn't have been any worse.) As the sweat rolled down my legs under my skirt, all I could think of is why couldn't it be 40 degrees and raining right now?????

Today, we embraced the slightly less warm weather and traveled out to find a new and improved Addy Bear haircut!

Here is the before picture this morning.

And here are the after shots.

Yeah! Easy care, cool & breezy and oh so cute!
