San Diego Trip

We just returned from a great week of fun in San Diego! We took off and spent a night at the super posh Del Coronado Hotel in San Diego and then met up with my parents in Escondido for a week's stay at the Welk Resort.

I'm attaching a slide show of highlight shots from the trip. In addition here are Jessica's top ten hightlights and lessons learned from our adventure:

10. The Del Coronado is amazing (really) but not necessarily kid friendly (lesson learned: old and fancy does not equal Addy friendly)

9. Hearing Little proudly say the word "animals" for the first time on the way to the San Diego Zoo.

8. Don't pick the row before or after an exit row if you have a car seat, the flight attendants will ingore you for 40 minutes while you wait for the plane to balance and then when the whole plane is filled with annoyed people they will ask you to move. After you've unpacked and gotten the baby all settled in.

7. San Diego is a great vacation spot - great weather, attractions, relaxation, golf, beach . . . what more could you want!!

6. Malls aren't necessarily indoors in San Diego. So, when using the mall as a fall back measure when it is raining, be aware the play area might just be outside and a bit wet! Check out Little in her too cute rain coat.

5. Food, dessert and alcohol all take on a magical quality on vacation! (Unfortunately they take on a magical quality on your rump when you return.)

4. Hyenas are scary!! We met two very scary hyenas at the zoo. No joke, one of them got his beady (and mean) eyes locked on Addy wiggling around in the stroller and never waivered. She was going to be lunch.

3. Sand - weird and kind of yucky. Ocean - awesome!

2. Grandma is the vacation hero thanks to the introduction of jello jigglers to one Miss Addison Daukas.

1. Lawrence Welk rules!!!! Really . . . it was actually the Lawrence Welk Resort that we stayed at in Escondido - perhaps the best resort ever! Great location, style, accommodations, pools (like 6), activity centers, golf, stores, everything you can think of is right there. (One of the largest casinos in CA is right down the road, Scott was lovin' life.)

Our picture with Mr. Welk himself:

It was a great and relaxing vacation. Thanks Mom and Dad for coming and sharing such a great time with us.

Here are the pics:

Have a great week!

Odds and Ends

Here are just some random photos from the last couple of weeks.

Checking out Grandma's crocs (Addy loves dressing up in other's shoes):

Taking a moment to make sure baby has a bottle:

The other night Addy finished her dinner and decided to join Scott and I to help out with ours. She loves potato chips and so she was happy to help Scott with a few of his remaining chips. She decided it would be appropriate to dip the bbq chips into my bowl of cheerios and suck off the milk over and over until the chip was wilted and then she'd eat it and ask for another. Now for those of you that know me and my terror at any kind of wet bread you will know it could only be motherhood that would allow me to sit through this and not run screaming. :) It was actually pretty cute.

Once we were finished with the chips it was time to chase down the final few cheerios in the bowl and finish them off too!

When Little was all done we had to take off her top because she has dribbled so much down her front. But she sure had fun!

Early Valentine's Day Present for Addy

Grandma and Grandpa T. surprised Addy with a special Valentine's day visit and present on Sunday.

Addy quickly realized she wanted the bus out of the package . . . she fussed the entire time my Mom and I were trying to get it open. (Can anyone identify with wanting to injure those responsible for packaging kids toys??)

She was so hyper even after Grandma and Grandpa left she totally hammed it up during her snack.

Addy was such a good girl this weekend she got a special balloon from Mommy and Daddy:

Mysteriously during the night the ribbon was chewed through and the balloon is lost at the top of our very high cathedral ceiling. I am sure it wasn't Rock and Vienna, they would never do that, right? :)

Playdate

We had a ton of fun last weekend visting with our dear friends, Collin, Jodi and Wyatt. Check out the action:

The kids decorated Valentine's Day cookies. Well, Addy just ate most of the time. Check out the bite marks on the cookie.

Wyatt convinced Addy to sit down for a minute to hear a story.

While hanging out before dinner I got Little to show me her fish face:

Addy did a little showing off for Wyatt and got Wyatt into the "pull your shirt up" thing.

Wyatt and Addy did a little chillin' in the tent.

Little paused for a moment to give me a snuggle:

Bye bye hugs and kisses:

There is a get video and some more fun pictures on Wyatt's site. Thanks for the great visit!!

Dress Up

Who doesn't enjoy a little dress up now and then? Addy came home barrowing Gracie's ballerina outfit and added her own twist with the sunglasses and shell necklace.

Addy thought Daisy might enjoy a little dress up too!

She did have time to hang out with Daddy for some reading.

And finally, Addy can where her jeans. This is an exciting day because Little never fits into jeans. They are too tight, too long, too short, etc. Here is the evidence that Addy actually wore jeans one time. :) Looking so big girl in her jeans don't you think?

We'll see how long she can wear them.

Sick and Tired??

It seems like the days fly by lately and I've gotten slower on my postings. Here is a bit of catch-up. Addy spent a fair amount of the week before last with Grandma and Grandpa T as she was recovering from a yucky cold. Clearly it didn't get her down too much, check out these cute photos!

Curlers anyone?

Who is the sweetest thing?

She is thankfully feeling better. :)
