We had a ton of fun on Saturday at the beach with a whole group of our friends!
The kids played and played . . .
Addy and Brandy went on a treasure hunt:
Great picture of Jeff and Brandy:
Addy was a monster in the water - more, more - go farther, more waves!
And she went through a lot of clothes between trips into the water. Addy in her diaper and sweat shirt.
Yummy snacks! (see the fog rolling in?)
Addy and Rhema got to enjoy some fun beach time together:
For about 10 years my parents took my life-long BFF Trisha and I to the beach every year for Labor Day weekend. Now we are enjoying the beach with our little ones.

BFF's + BFF's
My BFF Trish (whom I've known since the dawn of time, actually since we were born) had a little party (big party) for her little gorgeous girl Rhema this weekend.
Addy got all ready to go in the outfit Grandma bought her.
Our two little ones are just getting to the age where they are really starting to interact together. It is pretty fab to watch the next generation of BFF's.
Chillin in the pool.
Eating the marvelous birthday cake.
And Addy tried out the bounce house at the party. As long as she was in it alone - she loved it.
Happy Birthday Rhema - thanks for inviting us to your very fun party Trish and Aaron.

Resolutions
Its half way through the year (about) and I was reflecting on my resolution. As you know year of the gardener started out with a bang and then hit a rather large (35 pound, orange shaggy beast) bump. So, we are doing what we can with the yard and gardening -but my primary goal is to make it to fall without major holes, torn up bushes or any more puke from eating the wrong things in the yard on my carpet. (Isn't it funny how quickly priorities change.)
Based on my modified plan above I've taken some time to reflect. And really what I mean here is that I got very ill recently and have spent the last two and a half months (yes, months) trying to get better. I had to take an entire week off of work, and have limited to my social life to the person at the starbucks window and hoping I see a neighbor when watering the pots.
I spent a lot of time sitting in my house - which is unusual for me. And I've realized that we moved in almost 6 years ago - I decorated and haven't touched anything since. So . . . I am adding to my resolution list. I am replacing some of my gardening adventures with re-doing my front room.
I've gotten one project done - HELLO - can I just brag and say I actually made these myself. Crafts people - this is exciting. I have hated this freakin' metal thing I hung up years ago - forever! I can never figure out what to do with it.
Thanks to a friend, I got this idea and modified it to work with my new favorite piece of metal.
And now I have to find the perfect paint. (This seems like a lot of pressure - which one, which one????????)
Meanwhile in an attempt to show me her excitement at this new plan Biscuit decided to do some re-decorating (remodeling) herself. Yup. That is sheet rock people.
So, new adventures await me as I finally toss the 9 different prescription medications I've been on for weeks. So thankful to be feeling better each day!!
AND . . . for extra credit points as I was taking pictures of my new art work I walked by the kitchen and was proud that I had a blueberry, cream cheese and pecan coffee cake with lemon icing on the stove. The domestic goddess is not dead, she lives on! (Really, I was just so bored being stuck at home I had to do something.)

The 4th
On the morning of the 4th, I always try to reflect for a moment on my country, my freedom, and the many blessings I have in my life. Many times current events help put into perspective my reflections. On Saturday I thought of our soldiers in far away lands, protests and violence in Iran and flag burning. The latter was on my mind because I was going through some old documents a few days ago and found a paper I wrote on the subject way back when. Then I thought about the simple act of blogging and the freedom it represents to us. And the act of defiance it could be. It is amazing to write what I want, when I want to . . .
After my serious reflections we also had some good old fashioned 4th of July fun!
In attempting to help Addy learn how to throw pop-its, I told her to throw them really, really hard to make them pop. This is priceless . . . Addy is really working on throwing this pop-it down hard. She made this face over and over again.
Happy 4th of July to all of you.
